I understand all the points of view on the club / intermediate events. Remember that you can interpret the rules the other way round....you can win the Temple and still race in the Thames. So for all the complaining about certain individuals being too good, how do you counter the stewards decision that you should be able to win the PE, then the Temple, then the Thames. That is one way they are encouraging good athletes to remain in the sport. The Thames is then a higher standard than the Temple, so why all the complaining about all the students - you should be better than them.
It's quite simple. When you're in a student programme, race as a student. When you're a graduate, race for a Club.
It's not about who is better. When the Temple first came into existence, it was a weaker event than the Club events. Currently the Temple is stronger than the Club events. But it's not about which event is stronger, it's about having fields that make sense, students racing against students, clubs racing against clubs. If a bunch of non-students pitched up in a student event (Nereus 2015?), that wouldn't be popular either.
Agree that students should race students etc, but if you are trying to win the Thames it shouldn't matter if there are students in another boat ...you should be faster. Further down the Thames Cup it can be frustrating, but that is life. If you don't like it, do another event or don't enter.

The reason that the 32-boat Brit was split into the Brit and PA was that club crews weren't competitive with the unis.

has been, would your final point not be more appropriately applied to the students entering an inappropriate event rather than the club rowers entering the appropriate event? Glad the stewards made the right call on this one. Team Keane for the plate....

Could say the same thing, with much greater justification, to students. Enter student events, if you don't like it, don't enter.
Why this obsession with squeezing students into events that aren't there to cater for them? Plenty of events that they can still enter. Let's be honest, it's pot-hunting, if the club events were stronger than the student events, they wouldn't bother.
One for under the radar.....The Britannia Challenge Cup.......Rule 1 (a)......No crew of a boat club of any university, college or secondary school shall be qualified to contend for this prize.......Crew 457 UTS Haberfield Rowing Club, Australia.......translated = University of Technology Sydney Haberfield Rowing Club, Australia.
The Thames cup is looking pretty weak with those couple of crews bumped up to the ladies. Easy win for Thames or are any of the overseas crews going to spring a surprise?

Based on how those/similar overseas boats have performed in previous years, I can't see anyone getting with in a couple of lengths of Thames. Unless one of the German boats is a surprise package, should be a win for Thames.
Harder to spot likely winners for the Wyfolds and Brit.

London were pretty quick at met, but I can't see them winning the Wyfold

Banter and chat are one thing but unless you can support that allegation with proof I don't think it's appropriate to repeat it. If it's wrong, it's defamation.
