NASHVILLE -- Pucks just keep going in for Alexander Steen. Steen scored his ninth and 10th goals of the season to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 6-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday night. T.J. Oshie, Jaden Schwartz, Derek Roy and Alex Pietrangelo also scored for the Blues, who had lost three of four including a home loss to Vancouver in overtime Friday night. Nick Spaling scored for Nashville, which has lost two of three as it sets out on a season-long seven-game road trip. St. Louis has won four straight in Nashville for the first time. "I thought we played really well, but it was a strange game," St. Louis coach Ken Hitchcock said. "For the two teams that play each other, we dont give up many of scoring chances and they dont give up many, but there seemed to be a lot of scoring chances." Steen scored the games first goal at 5:27 of the opening period. With the Blues on a power play, Steen beat Nashville goaltender Carter Hutton with a wrist shot from above the left faceoff dot. A screen from teammate Chris Stewart helped Steen score his ninth of the season. "Theres no way that goes in, too far out to beat him with a wrister unless (Stewart) takes away his eyes," Steen said. "I thought we had good jump and we got out of the gates a lot quicker than we did last night." He has at least one goal in all but one of St. Louis games this season. Oshie and Schwartz scored 4:02 apart in the second period to send the Blues into the second intermission up 3-0. Spaling got the Predators on the board with a short-handed goal less than a minute into the third when he scored his first goal of the season on breakaway, beating St. Louis goaltender Jaroslav Halak on the stick side. "We were feeling good in here and we had a lot of momentum off those first couple of periods," Oshie said. "I think we responded really well even though giving up short-handed goals is a tough act to follow." The Blues put the game out of reach after Steen scored his second of the game at 4:37 and Roy followed at 7:48. Steen already has surpassed his goal total from the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season, when he had eight in 40 games. "From us, we need a little more production from our forwards," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "When we get a chance to convert, weve got to convert." Hutton was lifted following Roys goal. He was replaced by Magnus Hellberg, who was recalled Thursday after No. 1 goaltender Pekka Rinne had surgery to clear up an infection in the hip that he had surgically repaired in the off-season. Pietrangelo added a power-play goal at 12:58 of the third. "Theyre a shooting power-play; we knew thats what they were going to do," Nashville captain Shea Weber said. "They get pucks through with traffic. They have a great power play and they scored enough tonight." Jay Bouwmeester, David Backes, and Vladimir Tarasenko each had two assists for the Blues. NOTES: Roy played in his 600th career NHL game. ... Blues LW Magnus Paajarvi sustained an upper-body injury in the first period and did not return to the game. ... Before Saturday, Nashville had gone seven games without allowing a power-play goal. .. Predators D Mattias Ekholm recorded an assist on Spalings goal, his first career NHL point. Serge Savard Jersey . Compared to what hes gone through in recent weeks, that seemed like a breeze. Speaking to The Associated Press on Friday at an NBA Cares event, Silver said hes thrilled that the leagues attention can be on the championship series between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs -- and not, as it was for so much of the post-season, on the off-the-court matters involving the banishment of Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling and now the looming sale of that franchise. Ken Dryden Jersey . The Bruins forward has been fined $5,000 by the National Hockey League for spearing Red Wings defenceman Danny DeKeyser in the groin. If Troy Smith is the man Jim Popp has pegged to replace Anthony Calvillo at quarterback in Montreal, hell have some big shoes to fill. Regardless of who is tabbed to replace Calvillo, or at least get first crack at it, there are big shoes to fill. Calvillo has said hes leaning towards retirement after concussion troubles likely capped a brilliant 20-year career as the leagues all-time leading passer. The five-time league All-Star also has three Grey Cup rings and was three-times named the leagues Most Outstanding Player. Steering clear of those lofty standards for the time being, can Smith be the guy to lead Montreal back to the top of the East Division? In his four game audition for the role of successor (three regular season contests and the Eastern Semi-Final), the former Heisman Trophy winner had middling numbers, averaging 231 yards per game with 2.dddddddddddd25 touchdowns to one interception and a 54 percent completion rate. He was the teams third fill-in after Montreal grew tired of both Josh Nieswanders and Tanner Marshs uneven play. Smith gave the Als a chance to win in each of his starts, finishing with a 2-2 record, but fell short of other first-time starters like Zach Collaros and Bo Levi Mitchell in their stints this season. Smith was short on preparation time as well however, being signed in mid-August, only two months before his first start; a full off-season and training camp will serve the former NFLer well.
