What is on your mind?

Who is the commentator for HWR on youtube? He is god awful.

Incorrect with his crew names, irrelevant facts about the locations of where crews row out of, often also incorrect.

He rarely talks about the actual rowing of the crews.

1. He should do more planning. HWR posted the draw with plenty of time so he could have looked up the order and put club colours next to it.

2 HWR have event named every member of the crew, so maybe talk about the crew and past results or pedigree. Again more research.

Comment on how well or not they are rowing not just give a name and occasional rate. Its not that hard to either say this is an accomplished looking crew, or make a passing comment on how they could improve.

Also turn off your mike when your not commentating, as we can hear every discussion you have, including the one where you colleague asked if you know which club is which.

Please, please, please, no ill-informed technical commenting! As a coach, listening to commentators rubbishing a crews technique is infuriating.

Well.... what is there to comment about rowing boats going down a course in a straight line? Margin, current boat speed/rate, a brief background of crews and... technique! Maybe the "ill-informed technical commenting" is simply highlighting your ill-informed technical coaching? It's all very subjective and to extent it's just about the only thing that's interesting - no other part of the commentary can really illustrate what makes one crew different from another or can help the viewer understand why one crew might be faster than the other.

And here we see the puny drifters making their way slowly up the course, all wishing it was down stream so they could use their drifting excellence to greater effect

With the increasing number of HRR events for women, what really is the point of HWR, despite being a sub-standard event, which I would say detracts from the strength of women's rowing on show at HRR?

Totally agree it could be argued that all hwr is doing is helping to prevent true gender equity at HRR.

Re: Henley Women's Regatta

I would totally be okay with equalising the open event numbers at hrr, trimming some of the club events, and turning hwr into a Henley amateur regatta for both genders.
