DENVER - Late comebacks and wins in extra time made the Colorado Avalanche the NHLs surprise team last year.Struggling this season one point from the cellar of the Western Conferences Central Division, Colorado reverted to that winning formula on Thursday night. Matt Duchene had a goal and an assist in regulation and got the decisive goal in the shootout, Calvin Pickard had 30 saves through overtime and stopped two more shots with the game on the line, and Colorado rallied to beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-3.It was huge, Pickard said. Weve been losing close games by one goal, and the difference between winning and losing is a small margin. We wanted to just stick with it for 60 minutes and we did right to the end.Ryan OReilly and Jarome Iginla also had regulation goals as Colorado stopped a four-game skid. The Avalanche routinely won last year by scoring late in the third period and then prevailing after regulation. Thursday was only one win, but coach Patrick Roy hopes its the start of something good.We were resilient and it was a nice comeback, he said. To win in the shootout was good for us. You always hope a game like this will bring confidence and a belief in ourselves.Mark Scheifele, who had a goal and two assists, gave Winnipeg a 3-1 lead with a goal at 4:32 of the third, but Colorado rallied late. Iginlas wrister with 7:05 left got the Avalanche within a goal and OReilly tied it with 2:42 remaining in regulation. We played well to get a 3-1 lead, Scheifele said. Then we took our foot off the gas in the third period and they were able to generate chances. After a scoreless overtime, Nathan MacKinnon and Duchene beat goalie Ondrej Pavelec with a couple of backhanders. Pickard stopped Mathieu Perreault and Blake Wheeler in the shootout to get the win.I actually have faced Wheeler in the summers, Pickard said. I know hes got great moves and I just wanted to be patient and let the play come to me.Pickard made a pair of saves on a breakaway midway through overtime. Andrew Ladd came in alone but was stoned. His rebound came to Bryan Little, but Pickard made the save on his shot to keep it tied.I just wanted to be patient, Pickard said. Our back check forced (Ladd) to make a quick shot. I was playing pretty aggressive and the rebound kind of just lay there. I made a desperation-mode save.Pavelec finished with 23 saves in regulation and overtime. Ladd and Paul Postma also had regulation goals for Winnipeg, which is 5-0-3 in its last eight games.Ladd got Winnipeg on the board 1:21 into the second period with a power-play goal. Scheifeles shot went off Pickard and bounced in the air. The puck landed in the crease and Ladd poked it in for his 11th goal of the season and second in as many games against Colorado. The Avalanche ended a 93-minute, 31-second scoring drought when Duchene finished off a nice rush with a deflection into the top of the net that tied the game at 1-all at 3:55 of the second.Postma gave the Jets a 2-1 lead heading into the third with a power-play goal at 14:40. It was his second of the season. We dominated the second period where Id thought the game was won, Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice said. At 3-1 I thought we were fine.NOTES: Michael Frolik had two assists for Winnipeg. ... Avalanche LW Alex Tanguay had two assists. ... Emre Can Jersey .com) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quickly found themselves a new offensive coordinator, and one thats quite familiar with the NFC South. With a talented quarterback and an impressive free agency we ask if the Jacksonville Jaguars are ready to make a push for the NFL play-offs. The NFL off-season is a great time to look ahead and assess the quality of each franchise and work out what would be considered a success for the upcoming season. This is no more relevant than in Jacksonville where owner Shahid Khan, who also owns Championship club Fulham, has stated that the Jags must be significantly better, and that a winning record is everybodys reasonable expectation at this point. The Jaguars have been rebuilding for the last three years, having drafted a quarterback and growing the team around him. With that in mind, Sky Sports takes a look at the reasons for optimism and realism for Jags fans.Free agent moves Super Bowl 50 winner Malik Jackson was an eye-catching addition in free agency The Jaguars were active early in free agency; they had to be. There were a number of holes to fill, particularly on their defence, which finished 24th in yards allowed last season. The marquee signing of Super Bowl winning defensive end Malik Jackson, as well as the arrival of Tashaun Gipson, Prince Amukamara and Kelvin Beachum, can help to shore up a team that has struggled to pressure opposition quarterbacks. On the offensive side of the ball, the Jaguars signed running back Chris Ivory from the Jets which gives them a powerful alternative to promising talent TJ Yeldon. Chris Ivory has swapped the Jets for the Jaguars However they did miss out on a couple of big splashes. Having offered a contract to Olivier Vernon, they were blown out of the water by the Giants, who landed the DE on a staggering $85m contract. The Jags are also still without a centre, with free agent Steven Wisniewski leaving for his hometown club Pittsburgh Steelers, and target Alex Mack signing with the Falcons.  There is a little more work to be done, but another good draft and Jacksonville will feel happy going into training camp.Draft PicksWith the fifth overall pick in this yyears draft, the Jaguars have the opportunity to land a supreme talent.ddddddddddddThey will most likely keep focus on the defensive rebuild, with a huge array of talent on offer.Potentials include cornerback Jalen Ramsey, defensive end Joey Bosa, and linebacker Myles Jack. Jack, widely considered the most talented player available, missed the majority of last season with a serious knee injury and as a result, could fall to number five. After a strong free agency, aside from centre the Jags have no positions of absolute need, so have the freedom to select the best overall talent available. A franchise QB? Blake Bortles is starting to live up to his vast promise The Jaguars were a much improved offensive unit in 2015, and the maturation of Blake Bortles is a major factor behind that. Heading into his third year, Bortles is looking to top his 35-touchdown 2015 season, and must reduce the number of interceptions thrown to prove he can be an elite level QB.With another season under his belt to gel with the weapons around him, Bortles will be keen to kick on and prove himself among the most promising passers in the NFL.The loss of Wisniewski will be a blow to Bortles, who will play next season with his third different centre in three years. The trust between the two positions is integral to a successful offence, and it may be a case of drafting a top choice in the early rounds.  A cautionary taleAround this time last year, Bortles was heralded as the best rookie QB of the year before, the Jags had added Pro Bowl tight end Julius Thomas, and went on to draft highly rated Dante Fowler Jr.A few months later, Fowler was out for the season, Thomas missed the first four games and the Jags finished up with another losing record (5-11).Although it all seems rosy for Jacksonville at this moment in time, it is worth considering that it is only April. If coach Gus Bradley can put all the pieces of the jigsaw together and have the team playing in September, then we can start to look at this team with a view to the play-offs.  Also See: NFL Video Rookies guide NFL on Sky Sports Pundits Cheap Denver Nuggets Jerseys Cheap Minnesota Timberwolves Jerseys Cheap Oklahoma City Thunder Jerseys Cheap Portland Trail Blazers Jerseys Cheap Utah Jazz Jerseys Cheap Los Angeles Clippers Jerseys Cheap Los Angeles Lakers Jerseys Cheap Phoenix Suns Jerseys Cheap Sacramento Kings Jerseys Cheap Dallas Mavericks Jerseys Cheap Houston Rockets Jerseys Cheap Memphis Grizzlies Jerseys Cheap New Orleans Pelicans Jerseys Cheap San Antonio Spurs Jerseys Cheap Golden State Warriors Jerseys ' ' '
